Collecting wild herbs has become popular within a few years. It's a nice hobby which has also some result. There are plenty of eatable herbs and the best part is that our nature is so clean that you can actually collect them and put in your mouth! That's rarity we need to keep alive in Helsinki!

Here are some examples to start with:
Nettle is best when collected young. You can make nettle pancake or dry it and use as tea. Or nettle pesto, yummy!
Young raspberry leafs are good dried and as tea.

Rosebay willowherb goes well in your salad.

With heartease you can decorate your cake for example!

Common yarrow works well with fatty foods as it fastens digestion.

Good place to go and pick up these herbs are in Herttoniemi and Kruunuvuori, Keskuspuisto or even in Mustikkamaa. Or where ever you find forest - just dip in!

And remember: we have this thing called every man's right - which means the land might be owned by someone, but anyone can go and collect herbs or other food products from there. But leave peoples backyards alone because we still have the thing called trespass.
