Itkupotkuraivari

This is more teenage things, but you can still have this when you're older. It means cry-kick-fit of rage. You can say this when you're totally loosing your nerves but still nothing happens. It just represents your feeling which could be physically itkupotkuraivari.

Bönthö

Means basically beer. You can hear people yell "bönthöö!" meaning basically "beer!" The word comes probably from "Pönttö" which means bin. So bin size beer means that there's going to be lots of beer. You don't say bönthö if you want just a couple of beers.

Kaurismäkeläinen

This word comes from film director Aki Kaurismäki who's movies and characters have always the same vibe - Kaurismäki has compressed very Finnish things in his movies. The movies often represent end of 70's and mid 80's Finland. I wrote about it here.

Ditchata

This means to ditch someone just has done a Finnish version from English word.

Trollaa

Means "to troll".

Dänkki

Means weed.

Rakkauden kesä *year*

Summer of love. Each year everyone waits for one, for some it comes - some prefer having crazy single summer. But everybody waits for Rakkauden kesä (insert the year after it always, like Rakkauden kesä 2016/2017/2066...).

50/60

This came after Finland's ex ski jumping eagle Matti Nykänen said in an interview: "The situation is 50/60". Matti Nykänen is also a legend in many ways - the yellow press loves him.

Jariaarniot

This isn't used so often, but you should use it as it's pure genious. Jari Aarnio was head of police's drug department. And what he does? He turned out to be the biggest drug pimp in Finland! He made some real good deals with his "customers".

 

 This "jariaarniot" is good to use in situations that first feel like genious idea but end up being absolutely wrong - so the geniousness is that actually it's not leagal. So actually it's not genious - it's just stupid.

"Nyt kävi jariaarniot = I made a jariaanio's"

Also you can use this in situations when someone get's caught who you wouldn't ever believe.

Nais

It's just nice, but people have started to even write "nais" as it's how "nice" is pronounced. And we pronounce things the way we write them.

Dr. Ötker pizza from supermarket. A total hangover food. Only 3€!

Mika Häkkinen - / Kimi Räikkönen - English

When someone speaks English with very thick Finnish accent. Basically it's pronouncing English as it's written.

Sisu

Sisu means guts - so Finnish people have guts. You will meet this word in different places and you'll get extra points by mentioning that "You Finns have so much sisu in you!" I see those credits coming!
