Fall foliage in Helsinki

With my American friend we were thinking about what's the actual name for trees changing color during fall. As it doesn't happen world wide, mostly in countries located in north like Canada, mid- to north Europe, Russia, Japan... As well it happens in southern part of world like in New Zealand, Patagonia, South Africa and Tansania but not in so big scale. So it might not have a word in every language, as it's not happening everywhere.

The whole Finland has fall foliage which apparently is the right word for trees changing colors in English. Same in Finnish is ruska, koyo in Japanese, osen'yu listva in Russian, follaje de otoño in Spanish. It's about the last time you'll see colours before spring. Winter is all about strong contrasts between black and white, light and dark. Last years fall foliage has stayed for many weeks and has offered people in Helsinki a great color therapy.

If you are planning to travel in Helsinki end of summer, you'll be mostl likely witnessing this beautiful natural phenomenon.
