Grillin'!

Grilling has been part of Finnish culture for ages. The thing is that after sausages landed in Finland, they've been in our grills. Now that grills have become trendy again, also wider selection of grilled items have enter the game.

Maybe you won't be able to have coal grill for your use but during summer it's nice to grab a grill and go to a park or even in Suvilahti or the rocks of Linnanmäki wile watching Helsinki's landscape. Note that at lido you're not allowed to grill.

So what should you grill? One very good idea is to grill white fish. Get your fish from fish market and add a bit of olive oil and lemon. Maybe a hint of salt. White fish doesn't recquire much as it's fantastic fish to be eaten just like that. Also Finnish veggies are good for grilling, so get your veggies from market place, like from Hakaniemi market.

Here you can read the rules (only in Finnish, sorry!)

Ok, but basically it goes like this:

- Keep an eye at the grill all the time

- Rather leave one-use-grills at the market (too many rules on using them)

- Extinguishing the grill properly is important and you have to be sure it has really flamed off before leaving it/throwing it in the bin

- You're not allowed to grill at the beach (some people do but in the evening when there's no one around)
