Checking out street styles in different countries become a trend almost a decade ago and it's still interesting people. While fashion blogs have strated becoming more commercial it's almost impossible to sence the real style of these bloggers anymore because in every photo there's a hidden advertisment.
Helsinkians have interesting sence of style. It's definitely something unique. Females are not wearing that feminine clothes, actually styles are pretty gender free. A good pair of jeans and an old jumper from your grandmothers attic makes a good match. But the most important thing is to wear them with style.
People want to wear comfortable clothes because of strong differences between seasons. Nowadays finding clothes that are made from real materials - such as wool - is difficult as everything seems to be acrylic and nailon. Therefore second hand shops are good because you can get clothes made from wool for low prices. Also recycling has become more and more important as well as ethically made clothes. Also supporting your local artist.
In a way Helsinkians are not high in real fashion brands, but you can spot some people wearing Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens etc.
There are also plenty of people who just wear daily their jogging pants and have spray tan and extended hair and fake nails. Or people who fancy Michael Kors. But the style of up- and downtown Helsinki is simple: a good hair style, a jumper with a nice details, jeans and Dr. Martens or some other kind of boots/sneakers. And some simple jewellery or just plain. Colours are black, gray, white but with hints of pastel/neon/other colours.
Hel-looks is a webpage which is specialized in street fashion in Helsinki. It's "slightly" ultimate though.
