Collect your meal from the nature

Our nature it's just unbelieveable. You just have to learn how to bring it part of your daily life. You know, when Finns strated to migrate in America they became good friends with Native Americans, why? Because both have understanding and respect towards nature. Also handicrafts were strong part of living, like knitting and woodworking. Bothe of these two cultures taught each other new things related to nature and living with nature.

There's even people who are known as "Finndians" meaning mixture of Native Americans and Finns.

So yes, nature is strong part of us Finns. Of course some of us have isolated from the nature, but it's in our genes - if that's possible.

What's possible in Helsinki:

Berrypicking (lingonberries, bilberries, raspberries, sea-buckthorn, wild strawberries)

Mushrooms (bolete, chanterelle, funnel chanterelle, sheep polypore...)

Wild herbs (click to learn more)

Fishing (salmon, white fish, perch, pike perch...)

Hunting (only wild rabbits)

And how to find them?

Well, no one will share their picking places with you. The thing is to discover these places yourself. But you can start from getting to know in which kind of places certain berries like to grow. Hint: sea-buckthorn wont grow in forest, rather near the coast.
