Pizza time!

In 2015 Finnish police was trying to crack down the "grey economy" by asking people to report each pizzeria which sells pizza's for 6€. Detective inspector Minna Immonen said:

"Unless a pizza is on temporary sale there is no way a legitimate establishment can offer pizza for less than six euros"

What this caused was that people turned against police. Even (ex)fine dining restaurant Grotesk demonstrated against police's way to try to focus on especially usually immigrant owned pizzerias investigations by selling a pizza from a la carte list for 6€. Original price is 16€.

So the pizza battle begun!

Pizzeria owners who sell pizza's for 6€ saidthat they would sell pizza's for 10€, but people wouldn't buy it. So, to keep their business they need to keep the prices low.

Sounds difficult, huh!

But you're here to find the best pizzeria. There are plenty of pizzerias in Helsinki - one's that are very traditional Italian, one's that you get pizza when you're absolutely hangover and one's where you go to have-a-pizza.

Mäkikulpa

One of pizzerias where you go during the week to have a pizza and a beer. Here you see many locals from Kallio area having their pizza. (Price category *)

Alfons

The place to go when you want to enjoy a good pizza in minimalistic and hip surrounding. (Price category **)

Skiffer

The first pizzeria in Helsinki which came up with these crazy ideas of adding strawberries or bacon or just making the pizzas next level. They made pizza enjoyable and appreciated food which didn't recquire hangover. (Price category **)

Linko

is similar to Skiffer, but slightly more relaxed atmosphere.

Piece 'n' Love Pizzeria & Bar

is a new pizzeria which is not even trying to be Italian. Here you'll find even vegan pizza from the list. (Price category **(*))

Dr Ötker aka Ötke

This is a pizza you get from supermarket. Dr. Ötker pizza. You can see people walking home hugging these pizzas in boxes while they're walking home on Sundays.

NOTE that most of the restaurants are CLOSED on Mondays, so check out their opening hours. This is a problem we're battling in Helsinki!
